Our Community Partners

Community partners are a necessary and vital part of the Academy’s program. These partners will assist us in providing educational experiences, job-shadowing experiences, and health related guest speakers for the Academy. Also, they have important information regarding community needs and job employment skills that are invaluable to our students. This will help us in providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum for the students.

ER

During the Junior to Senior year summer for the Academy students, they will be required to perform 40 hours of job shadowing in a career area that interests them. These 40 hours must be completed prior to the first day of school for the next school term. The goals of job shadowing are for the students to observe what really happens in the world of work. They will see how what they learned in class, is applied and used on the job. They will learn what skills are necessary to become successful in their chosen career. Job Shadowing will also help students meet interesting career -related people in our community. This experience should help the student to get a better understanding of what is necessary for them to accomplish their future health care goals!

The community partners listed are possible places that the students may go to find job shadowing experiences. The students may find a mentor on their own or may ask for assistance in placement. If there are any questions regarding this process, please speak to or email Ms. Bruegger (774-9370).

Summer Job Shadowing forms may be downloaded / these hours are separate from the required "volunteer" service hours.
