Student Eligibility and Expectations:
- Students must complete an application along with their course cards (prior to entrance to the Academy)
- Students must submit a writing sample on their application (prior to entrance to the Academy)
- Students must obtain and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Students must pass the 10th grade FCAT (when at the 10th grade level)
- Students must have positive attendance records and good conduct records (prior to entrance and when currently enrolled in the Academy)
- Students are expected to maintain their GPA, attendance record and be free of discipline concerns while enrolled in the Academy
- Students must adhere to all school rules & when out in the community they must also follow any business rules
- Students must comply with grooming standards of the Medical community; including wearing of “scrubs” on designated days/events and/or for clinical experiences
- Students are expected to promote a positive self-concept as well as a healthy life-style
- Students must arrange their own transportation, during their senior year, when attending clinical sites/job-shadowing experiences
- Students are expected to join and participate in HOSA – Health Occupations Students of America club
- Students are required to have a minimum of 60 volunteer hours completed before graduation. Many of our business partners provide opportunities for our students to complete their volunteer experiences. These volunteer hours must be medically or health career related.
- Students are expected to abide by all patient confidentiality rules and breeches of this rule may result in dismissal from the program
- Students are expected to behave professionally and be respectful at all times
